Brett- 7 months old!

I feel like it was yesterday that I as typing your 6 month post and a month has already flown by.  We are rounding the corner to your first birthday and I am in a state of denial.  Mommy and Daddy love every minute with you.  Even if it's at the 2/3am or 5am feeding:)  We have rearranged our living room to accommodate your play area.  Mommy had a friend make her a t-shirt blanket/quilt and that's where you spend a lot of your time playing in the living room.  This week, we are going to move the swing out (haven't used it in weeks) and set up a play storage area to store all your wonderful gifts you got for Christmas.  You got lots of great things for your 1st Christmas.  You got some fun toys including a jack in the box (sock monkey version), books, velveteen rabbit, money for your savings account, iPhone toys (Fisher Price Case and Monkey)  (can't believe I am typing this for a 7 month old),  a swing for our tree in the backyard, Gerber Puffs, new pacifiers that glow in the dark!, some hand me downs from Kate & Joe, and by far my favorite gift- a personalized board book just for Brett!  We had a great Christmas Eve and Christmas morning with Daddy's side of the family.  The afternoon of Christmas, we headed to Branson with Mommy's family.  Grandma Shar and Papa rented a beautiful cabin for all of us to stay in.  You were such a good baby.  You love your cousins so much!  Mommy and Daddy were able to have 6 whole days with you.  It was hard to go back to work. You love the dogs you know, but Aunt Julie's 2 yorkies scare you to death.  It's impossible to keep socks on you.  When we say "Brett, can you say Da Da?" you smile big and then put your face to your shoulder as you are bashful.  So cute! You also went to your first concert.  It was Kenny Rogers at Drury University O'Reilly Event Center.  Mommy's first concert was Kenny Rogers when she was 5 so I couldn't pass the opportunity for free tickets.   You enjoyed the first half which was his classics and fell asleep during the 2nd half which was all Christmas.

Sleep:   Yup, still not sleeping through the night like weeks 8-18:(  You are now 31weeks and wake up usually 1-2 times a night.  Mommy & Daddy can't really do the cry it out thing so we will need to read up on some sleep training for you little one.   You usually wake up around 2/3ish and then around 5ish.  Mommy feeds you at both wakings and the later one, usually brings you into bed with her to cuddle until it's time to wake up for work. *No update really.  You are still not eating all 3 of your bottles at daycare and I think that is why you are hungry.  Mommy really needs to nip this in the bud.   On the weekends, Daddy gets up with you and he lets Mommy sleep in.  You are now a belly or side sleeper.  You love your burp cloths that Josie made.  We got 10 more for Christmas.  It's so cute seeing you snuggle with them.

Daily Routine:  *no change here

4:30/5am- Wake up to feed and fall back asleep
7:30am- Wakes up and Mommy feeds you before we leave
8am- leave to head to babysitter
(we get there around 8:15am and we get to spend about 15-20 minutes together before Mommy has to leave for work)
8:30am until we pick you up - 1-2 naps, 2-3 bottles, lots of playing with Miss Lori
4:30pm (MWF) Daddy picks you up
5:30pm (T/TH) Mommy picks you up
We come home, you eat, play, sleep.  We take baths every other night and you go to bed around 8pm-9pm

Feed: You are now up to 5 oz per bottle.  You usually get 3 breast milk bottles per day.  You are eating about every 3 hours still except through the night.   You are eating around 7-8 times a day.  We are starting to introduce solids.  You intently watch Mommy and Daddy eat.   We are trying some puree's (you aren't really loving as you want to feed yourself) and  Baby Led Weaning.    This month, you have tried chicken, cooked carrots, pears, clementines, bread, french fry, bell pepper, applesauce, some puree's.  Mommy and Daddy need to be more diligent on feeding you more.  I don't know why it's so "inconvenient." :)

Weight:
birth:  8 lbs 9 oz
now: guessing around 18 1/2 lbs

Length:
birth:  21 inches
now: Guessing around 27 inches

Diaper Size : You are still in size 3  We are still using Luvs.

Clothes Size:  You wear 6-9 month clothes.  Gymboree you are wearing a 12-18 month onesie:)

Hair Color:  You were born with dark (almost black) hair.  It is a dirty blonde now.

Eye color:

At birth: blue/gray
Now:  blue

Funniest or Favorite moment: There are two that really stick out this month.  You said Mama to Daddy on Christmas Eve as you were getting your diaper changed.  I am sure this was unintentional.  However, while we were in Branson, Mommy went to go get groceries and as I walked in the door, you said Mama.  I have to think that was intentional.  You also started clapping. It is so cute.  You don't open your left hand so it makes it even cuter.

Milestone:   You are sitting up unassisted now.  You are starting the movements to get into crawling position. You are starting to vocalize more- saying B and M sounds.  Your motor skills are great. You are using your pincer grasp as you pick up foods.  You are very efficient on putting your pacifier in your mouth.  You are learning how to drink from a sippy cup laying down.

Your favorite toy: Sophie will probably always be a favorite.  Johnny Jumper and all of your new Christmas toys.

Firsts:
First time sitting up on own
First word (Mama)
First Christmas
First time riding in Target cart
First time in a restaurant high chair
First New Year's Eve celebration (you were out by 9:30pm)

  1. It was funny how you kept reflecting on the fact that you are actually writing a 7 month post about your son. Time sure does fly. He is just so darn cute! Hope you are able to get one or two of those nightly wakings behind you, I know that can be rough.
