Brett- 3 Months Old

Oh Brett, you bring so much joy to Mommy and Daddy.  Your little personality is coming out like no other.  I can have the bleh day at work and come home to instant smiles.  This last month has been an adjustment for the whole family with Mommy going back to work. Surprisingly it hasn't flown by like the first 9 weeks of your life seemed to.    Mommy only cried the first morning she dropped you off at the babysitter.  I cried almost every day the 5 weeks prior to returning to work.  Work has been busy so it makes the day go by faster and I can't wait to get home to hold you! You are such a happy baby (although you did gave daddy a few rough afternoons while Mommy was away).  You rarely cry- usually only when you are hungry or sleepy.  You love your bathtime and that is usually a Brett & Mommy thing.  Daddy does the clean up.   The only time you really cry or fuss is when you are hungry.  Your tears came in around 9 weeks old.

Sleep:   You are such a great night sleeper.  We can lay you down in the pack and play (yes you are still in our room) and you will fall asleep yourself.  You start off with your pacifier and spit it out.  We also turn on the vibration feature which you seem to like. You are usually asleep by 9 or 10pm and wake up anywhere from 5:30am- 7am (8-10 hours a night).  Occasionally you wake up and we just put the pacifier in your mouth and you are good to go:)  You are taking 3 daytime naps at Miss Lori's.  The afternoon one is averaging about 2-3 hours.  You usually take another nap in the evening before your last feeding and bath.  You have graduated to the next level with your swaddle.  You sleep with your hands out now! You will also sleep in other places rather than my arms (like the swing).  You wake up from naps and night time talking to yourself in the pack and play.

Daily Routine:  We have a good schedule and you have adjusted well to Mommy going back to work.
5:30am/6am- Wake up and Daddy feeds you
7:30am- Mommy feeds you before we leave
8am- leave to head to babysitter
(we get there around 8:15am and we get to spend about 15-20 minutes together before Mommy has to leave for work)
8:30am until we pick you up - 3 naps, 3 bottles, lots of playing with Miss Lori
4:30pm (MWF) Daddy picks you up
5:30pm (T/TH) Mommy picks you up
We come home, you eat, play, sleep.  We take baths 2 times a week and you go to bed around 9 or 10pm.

Feed: You are now up to 5 oz per bottle.  You usually get 3-4 breast milk bottles per day. Daddy likes to feed you in the morning.  You are eating about every 3 hours still except through the night.  Your burps are like a grown man.  You are eating around 6-7 times a day.

Weight:
birth:  8 lbs 9 oz
now: The Unofficial weigh in on the home scale (digital one broke) was about 13 1/2-14 lbs

Length:
birth:  21 inches
now: ??? 2 months you were 22 3/4 inches; if I were to guess- 23 1/4 inches

Diaper Size : Have been in size 1 diapers since 3 weeks old.   We prefer Luvs.  We go through about 7 diapers a day.  We actually went 2 1/2 months without having to buy diapers.  We were blessed by all the gifts.

Clothes Size:  We have packed away all of your 0-3 month clothes.  It was rather sad for Mommy.  You are primarily dressed in Onesies.   I think you are going to be out of season for cousin Joe's clothes.  It's too bad because I got him some REALLY cute clothes from Gymboree.  Maybe since we had such a HOT summer, we will get an early fall.  Crossing fingers:)

Hair Color:  You were born with dark (almost black) hair.  It is starting to lighten.  Grandma thinks it's going to turn blonde soon like Mommy and Daddy.  Your hair is starting to recede.  After your bath, I like to give you a little mohawk/curl.  Daddy likes your hair messy

Eye color:
At birth: blue/gray
Now:  blue

Funniest or Favorite moment: We had a Mommy and Brett day while Daddy went to a golf tournament with some friends.  We hadn't had a day just to us since Mommy went back to work.  We went to 2 farmers markets, lunch, and Babies R Us.  You were perfect and I think I wore you out:) My favorite part of the day is when you wake up from your early morning nap for me to feed you and you are in the best mood.  You are full of smiles.

Milestone: We are working on some tummy time right now and you have very good head/neck control.  You are doing awesome and you are getting so close to rolling over tummy to back.  You are becoming more vocal every day.  You have found your hands and love to stare (or suck) at them.  We can see your little hands up in the air in the pack and play.  You are gripping your toys and pacifier.  In the last week you have started taking out your pacifier and trying to put it back in.  You haven't accomplished it yet but looks like it will be soon.  You smile all the time. You are wanting to laugh. Can't wait to hear your first giggle!

Your favorite toy: Mobile (which is funny because it's usually a guaranteed poop if I sit you under the mobile after your morning feeding), and any ceiling fan you can find.    You are enjoying the swing more now a days. Thank goodness!  You love to play on your play mats (at Lori's and at home).  At Lori's, you love the turtle.  At home, Daddy refers to it as "reaching for the stars" because everything on it has a star.  You enjoy hitting all the toys.

Firsts:
First time at babysitter (Lori Smith)
First roadtrip to Hot Springs to visit Grandma Shar & Papa
First "play date" with Bennett Chance (6 weeks) and Hudson Heinz (10 months)
First shots:(
