Brett- 5 Months Old!

Brett, you are such a great baby. I am thankful every day for you! This past month we have been super busy.  You are becoming such a big boy!  We had your 4 month shots at the beginning of October.  You barely made a sound.  Mommy still has to leave the room as you get your shots. Thank GOD for Daddy!  I think of you now as an infant, not a newborn.  It is crazy how strong you are getting and you are developing one heck of a personality!  Mommy went with friends to the Madonna concert in Kansas City overnight and Daddy watched you all by himself. You were perfect for him!  Mommy hated leaving you but thank goodness for the iPhone!  We also had our first family trip to KC.  You got to meet some of daddy's side of the family that he hadn't seen in 30+ years.  Most importantly, in the past month, you have met 3 of your 4 great grandparents!

Sleep:   So yeah, you totally hit a 4 month sleep regression.  Not as bad as I "hear" others talk about.  For the past month, you have been hit or miss.  A few times a week you will wake up at around 2am to be rocked.  Then wake up around 4/5ish to be fed.  I think a lot of it has to do with you skipping a bottle sometimes.  You usually take a 2-3 hour nap at the babysitters and you end up skipping so I think you are making up for it at that 4ish feeding.  Mommy doesn't mind though, she is able to fall back asleep quicker now a days.  Big news in this department!  You are now in your crib in your own room!!!  You slept perfect the first two nights and then the regression began. 

Daily Routine: 
4:30/5am- Wake up to feed and fall back asleep
7:00am- Wakes up and Mommy feeds you before we leave
8am- leave to head to babysitter
  (we get there around 8:15am and we get to spend about 15-20 minutes together before Mommy has to leave for work)
8:30am until we pick you up - 1-2 naps, 2-3 bottles, lots of playing with Miss Lori
4:30pm (MWF) Daddy picks you up
5:30pm (T/TH) Mommy picks you up
We come home, you eat, play, sleep.  We take baths every other night and you go to bed around 8pm-9pm

Feed: You are now up to 5 oz per bottle.  You usually get 3 breast milk bottles per day.  You are eating about every 3 hours still except through the night.   You have recently become disinterested in your last bottle at daycare.  You sometimes just snack.   Your burps are like a grown man.  You are eating around 5-6 times a day.

now: 16 lbs 2 oz

birth:  21 inches

now: 25 1/4 inches

Diaper Size : You are now in size 3 and have been for a few weeks.  We are still using Luvs.  I had a freebie of Pampers.  You pooped and it leaked on your sheet:(

Clothes Size:  You are in 3-6 month clothes.

 

Hair Color:  You were born with dark (almost black) hair.  It is starting to lighten. You are bald in the back with a little egg skirt.  You are starting to get new hair on the sides and it is sticking straight out!

Eye color:
At birth: blue/gray
Now:  blue

Funniest or Favorite moment:  Mommy and you are laying in bed cuddling.  Mommy decided to eat some chips and you thought it was the funniest thing.  You laughed for the first time.  It was the cutest thing.  So what did Mommy do, she continued to shove chips in her mouth as fast as she could and video taped it.  Let's just say that didn't get posted on Facebook.  

Milestone:  You won't stay on your belly anymore.  You almost immediately roll over.  You laughed (and we catch you every once in a while doing it).  You are "eating" your feet.  You put everything in your mouth.  You are also handing things off to your other hand, like your pacifier. 

Your favorite toy: Sophie the Giraffe.  Mommy couldn't justify spending $20 on a teething toy so we waited for Grandma Shar to come visit and get it:)
